Hosting and server log files
This website is hosted by IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Straße 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany. Every time our website is accessed, our hosting provider automatically collects access data in so-called server log files, which your browser automatically transmits: the page accessed, date and time of access, amount of data transferred, referrer URL, browser type and version, operating system used, and an anonymised IP address. The IP address is used solely to determine the approximate location of access and is not stored in a form that can be attributed to you personally. This data is automatically deleted after 8 weeks.
Collecting this data serves to ensure the reliable and secure operation of our website and to defend against attacks. The legal basis is our legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. We have a data processing agreement with IONOS in accordance with Art. 28 GDPR.
Cookies and local storage
Our website does not use analytics, marketing, or tracking cookies. We only use cookies and comparable storage technologies (e.g. your browser’s local storage) that are technically necessary for the operation of the website, for example to remember your language setting (this is a multilingual website), your choice regarding the third-party content described below, or your settings in the accessibility toolbar. Under Sec. 25(2) No. 2 of the German Telecommunications-Digital-Services-Data Protection Act (TDDDG), no consent is required for these technically necessary storage operations.
Should we use cookies or services requiring consent in the future, we will obtain your consent beforehand via an appropriate consent tool and update this privacy policy accordingly.
Contacting us
If you contact us by phone, e-mail, or via our contact form, the data you provide (name, e-mail address, subject, message) will be stored by us for the purpose of processing your enquiry. This data will not be shared with third parties.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where your enquiry serves to initiate or perform a contract, and otherwise our legitimate interest in responding to your enquiry pursuant to Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The data will be deleted once your enquiry has been fully processed, unless statutory retention obligations apply.
Our contact form is additionally protected against automated spam submissions by an invisible, purely technical honeypot field. No personal data is transmitted to third parties through this mechanism.
Withdrawing from a contract
If you wish to withdraw from a contract concluded with us — for example a trip booked through our online ticket shop — within the statutory period, you can use our withdrawal form. In doing so, we process the data you provide (name, if given; e-mail address; booking number; items affected and reason for withdrawal, if given) in order to review and process your withdrawal and confirm receipt to you. Where necessary for processing, we forward your details to the operator of our ticketing system.
The legal basis is the performance and unwinding of the contract pursuant to Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR in conjunction with Sec. 355 of the German Civil Code (BGB). We retain this data for the duration of the applicable statutory retention periods under German commercial and tax law (generally 6 or 10 years pursuant to Sec. 257 German Commercial Code (HGB) and Sec. 147 German Fiscal Code (AO)).
Embedded third-party content
At a few points on our website, we embed content from external providers. This content is not loaded automatically; instead, a placeholder is shown first. Only once you actively click “show” or “always show” is a connection established to the respective provider and the content loaded. Your choice is stored locally in your browser. The legal basis for the resulting data processing is your consent pursuant to Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, which you give by clicking and which you can withdraw at any time with effect for the future by not activating the content again, or by clearing your browser’s locally stored data.
YouTube videos
We embed videos in privacy-enhanced mode via the domain youtube-nocookie.com. Only after you click the placeholder is a connection established to YouTube (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland), which may also involve the transfer of data to Google LLC in the USA. Google states that it is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework; the adequacy of this transfer mechanism is currently the subject of ongoing legal debate. Further information is available in Google’s privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
Live webcam (feratel)
On our homepage, we offer a live camera view provided by feratel media technologies AG, Maria-Theresien-Straße 8, A-6020 Innsbruck, Austria. Only after you click the placeholder is a connection established to feratel’s servers, transmitting your IP address to feratel. Further information is available in feratel’s privacy policy: webtv.feratel.com/webtv/ds.jsp.
Web fonts and icons
The font and icons used on this website are served exclusively from our own server. No connection is made to Google Fonts or any other external font or icon provider, so no data is transmitted to third parties through this.
Accessibility toolbar (“OneTap”)
We offer accessibility features via a toolbar that can be opened on our website, including adjustments to font size, contrast, and line spacing, as well as a text-to-speech function. The toolbar is provided by a script hosted on our own server and runs entirely locally in your browser; no connection is made to any external server. Your chosen settings are stored locally in your browser so they are retained on your next visit. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in an accessible website pursuant to Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, or, insofar as only your settings are stored locally, Sec. 25(2) No. 2 TDDDG.
Ticket booking via our external partner
For ticket purchases, we link to the external, independently operated booking platform of our partner AXESS. Once you access this page, you leave our online offering; the privacy policy of the respective provider, referenced there, applies to any data processing on that platform. We have no influence over that processing.
Changes to this privacy policy
We will update this privacy policy whenever our website, the services we use, or the applicable legal requirements change. The version currently published on this page shall apply.
